This year’s CHS Varsity volleyball team is killing it. Despite the fact that the roster only includes two seniors, the group managed to pull off many wins. Last year, there were seven seniors on the team that graduated. Ryann Gregg, a Sophomore, who has played on the varsity team since her Freshman year, says about the young team this year, “Lots of teams thought we would be rebuilding and underestimated us, but we came back and picked up where we left off.” The bunch of athletes is currently ranked number four in OSAA 5A. With a record of thirteen wins and just one loss, Spartan volleyball continues to be a strong competitor. Not only are the players winning on the court, but off it as well. The team holds study groups twice a week which gives the players time to work on their homework so they can focus during practice. Gregg also mentioned without these study groups she would not be able to balance her busy schedule of school and volleyball as smoothly. A result of these study groups, practices are more productive, and the wins start rolling in. As the season comes to an end we should all appreciate how hard the volleyball players work, and continue to show them our spirit, as they keep crushing it.
