What is the High-O-Scope?
The High-O-Scope, located in Corvallis, OR, is the student newspaper for Corvallis High School. It has been a CHS tradition for nearly 100 years. In 2015, a daring group of students decided to reinstate the newspaper and get it up to its former glory. While recreating the newspaper, we decided to start up a website too so we could reach as many students, staff and community members as possible.
About the Editor
Kari Gottfried has been the editor-in-chief since June 2016. She was co-editor alongside Brian Cebra from June 2016 to March 2017, and with Clark Shimeall from June to October 2016. She has lived in Corvallis, Oregon for her entire life and has always had a passion for writing and journalism. She was selected as one of 42 high schoolers from across the country for Jcamp 2017, an intensive multicultural journalism training program. Kari can be found on Instagram and on Twitter (@karigottfried), but it’s much more likely that you’ll find her in the halls of CHS where she is proud to be a Spartan.
Our CHS advisor is Matthew King. We meet in his room (227) on most Fridays from 11:15 – 11:30.
Issues from a previous version of the Scope are available here. They range from October 2006 to April 2007 and are in full color.
History of CHS available here. Interesting and long!
If you have any questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to contact us (below) or visit room 227 (Mr. King’s) on Fridays during lunch.
